8. (A) An airplane designer (Listen & Read)
| Interviewer: | You've been designing airplanes for a long time. When did you start? |
| Designer: | Just after finishing university. I've designed twelve different planes so far. And I've been working for a European airplane builder for about six years. |
| Interviewer: | How many customers does your company have? |
| Designer: | Let me think. We have about ten very important customers and more than fifty small ones. |
| Interviewer: | Have you been working in any new design lately? |
| Designer: | I've been building a new model with a team from an American builder whom we are doing business with. We've built a prototype of a private jet called "Easy Way", but we haven't finished yet. There's still a lot of work to do. |
| Interviewer: | You've been writing something about faster planes with a different type of fuel. |
| Designer: | Well, so far I've only written a couple of articles in some magazines, but I'm planning to write a book on substitutes for the traditional plane fuel from oil. I want people to realise the potencial of new sources of energy and products that we can use before we run out of oil. A lot of people like to think that something must be found before the situation gets too critical. |
| Interviewer: | You've been working hard on that project. Good luck with the results! |
| Designer: | Thanks a lot. |
