| About a year ago the wife of my friend Peter began complaining she couldn't bear it at home with the kids any more, it was driving her crazy, so Peter told her: "All right then -if you find yourself an employment that pays enough to keep us all, I'll swap places with you!" Peter had been working mending and installing pipes in houses as a plumber. He was self-employed, so he didn't have a fix time table and could please himself how much he worked. Anyway, to his amazement she found herself a job in less than a month! So here he is now - what they call a "house husband" I imagine. He has been taking the kids to school and doing the house chores, shopping and so on for about a year. His wife didn't think he'd be able to cope with it, but he's been having a really great time so far. He had never been playing that much time with the kids, so he feels good spending some time with them, taking them to the park and all that. Though he has been feeling good doing it up to now, he says it's a more difficult task than one can imagine and he doesn't think he'd like to do it forever. |
