UNIT 4

4. (A) work & leisure (Listen & Read)

A: Can I ask you a few questions?
B: Yes, of course.
A: Do you have any free time in the morning before your work?

B:

Yes, I often wake up early in the morning and listen to the radio. I have a portable radio and headphones near my bed, so I can listen without waking up the others. Sometimes I go to the swimming pool with my daughter, Natasha- she's a very good swimmer.

A: Do you do any other sports?

B:

I sometimes play tennis. But in general I don't do much sport.

A:

What about lunch? Is this a break for you? Or do you work through your lunch?

B:

Well, I have to see a lot of people, as you can imagine, so lunch is often just a snack or a sandwich in my office during a meeting. But on the way to work I sometimes have breakfast meetings in a small hotel and have the meetings there, but during the day it's not really relaxation.

A:

And what do you do in the evening?

B:

I try to be home before eight thirty, when Natasha goes to bed. Sometimes Annette (that's my wife) and I cook dinner at home for friends. I enjoy cooking, like many men nowadays. Now that for me is relaxing.
