4. (A) ADVENTURE HOLIDAYS - LISTEN & READ
| The flight to my destination took nineteen hours. As soon as we arrived we were taken on a tour of the city. After looking at the city from the top of a hill, we went down town to see the elegantly-decorated old buildings. In the afternoon I was taken to meet my foster family. My family's eldest son, Bernard, is a guide too, and before heading home he took me to see his office. Their home is a cottage in a village about 25 minutes' travel time from the city. Bernard has four sisters and everybody made me feel really comfortable and at home. The next day we were divided into pairs and sent out into the city centre with a map each. We had to buy breakfast and do some errands like, change some money at the bank and find the police station. I had a good breakfast of tea, orange juice, sunny side up eggs and a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich. On Friday morning we were taken to a camp to spend the weekend there. After designing and making our own tables and chairs from fallen trees, we made a fence out of rope and poles. For lunch, the guides prepared us a traditional dish which is a delicious cream and asparagus soup accompanied with croutons. We spent the whole afternoon hiking in the beautiful mountains surrounding the camp. The following morning we returned from the camp and went in a town high up which has a magnificent market with lots of different and unusual things from the area. The goods are made by the villagers and we were toured to several places to see how some of the products are made. The last day of our stay the time flew like a breeze. It was sad when we all had to say goodbye, but we've promised to keep in touch with each other. |
